This Privacy Policy explains how Disconnect ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Disconnect app and related services (the Service ). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Summary. Disconnect is designed to work primarily on-device. Screen Time data is processed locally to power features like app-blocking and usage insights. We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising SDKs. Purchases are handled by Apple; subscription status is relayed via RevenueCat.
1) Introduction
(a) This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the Disconnect app and related services (the Service). (b) The Service is designed to work primarily on-device; Screen Time data and your block settings are processed locally to power features like app-blocking, schedules, and usage insights. (c) We aim to collect the minimum necessary information and avoid transmitting personal data off your device unless strictly needed to provide purchases or entitlements via Apple and RevenueCat. (d) By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. (e) The data controller is Disconnect. You can contact us at support@getdisconnect.com.
2) Data we process & purposes
We aim to collect the minimum necessary data.
2.1. On-device Screen Time & settings (local processing)
(a) What: App usage durations, categories, and app identifiers provided by iOS; your block selections, schedules, and related preferences. (b) Where: Processed and stored on your device to show insights and enforce your blocks. (c) Purpose: Provide core functionality you request (insights, quick blocks, schedules, notifications). (d) Sharing: Not sent to our servers and not shared with third parties.
2.2. Notifications (optional)
(a) What: Your choice to allow app notifications; generic notification content (for example, session start or end, reminders). (b) Purpose: Remind you about focus sessions, schedules, or summaries. (c) Control: You can enable or disable notifications in iOS settings at any time.
2.3. Subscription & purchase status
(a) What: Purchase receipts and subscription status (active or canceled, product, renewal date) via Apple and RevenueCat; no payment card data. (b) Purpose: Validate entitlements and unlock premium features. (c) Sharing: With Apple and RevenueCat solely to manage purchases. We do not receive your full billing details.
3) Legal bases (EEA/UK)
(a) Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): On-device Screen Time processing and settings necessary to provide the requested features. (b) Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): Notifications. (c) Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Security and diagnostics with minimal privacy impact.
4) Children
(a) The Service is not directed to children under the age of digital consent applicable in their country. (b) We do not knowingly collect personal data from such children. (c) Parents or guardians who believe a child has used the Service and provided personal data should contact us; we will delete such data and may restrict access.
5) Sharing and processors
(a) We do not sell your data. (b) We share only as necessary to operate the Service: (i) Apple for App Store billing and Screen Time frameworks; (ii) RevenueCat for subscription status and receipt validation. (c) Each acts as our processor where applicable and is bound by confidentiality and data protection terms. (d) We do not share Screen Time details or your block lists with these providers.
6) International transfers
(a) Where data is transferred outside your jurisdiction (including from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent lawful safeguards. (b) We assess partners’ data protection practices.
7) Data retention
(a) On-device data (usage, schedules, settings) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. (b) Subscription status is retained as long as needed to provide entitlements and comply with legal or accounting obligations.
8) Security
(a) We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including iOS secure storage and least-privilege access. (b) No system is 100% secure; please keep your device protected with a passcode or biometric authentication and do not share it.
9) Your rights (EEA/UK/CH and similar jurisdictions)
(a) Subject to law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and data portability. (b) Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (for example, disable notifications). (c) You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. (d) To exercise rights, contact support@getdisconnect.com. We may need to verify your identity. (e) We do not operate user accounts; most data resides only on your device and we may not have data to identify you.
10) U.S. State Privacy Disclosures
(a) Scope. This section supplements this Policy for residents of U.S. states with privacy laws (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah). It applies only to the extent those laws cover us (for example, if statutory thresholds are met). (b) No sale or sharing; no targeted ads. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state law, and we do not use personal information for targeted advertising. Accordingly, we do not provide "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" links. If this changes, we will update this Policy and our UI.
(c) Categories of personal information. We process limited categories: (i) identifiers such as device or app identifiers and purchase receipt identifiers from Apple or RevenueCat; (ii) commercial information such as subscription product and renewal status. We do not collect precise geolocation, sensitive personal information, or advertising identifiers, and we do not transmit your on-device Screen Time details to our servers.
(d) Sources. (i) You or your device (on-device processing of Screen Time and settings); (ii) Apple App Store (purchases); (iii) RevenueCat (subscription status). (e) Purposes. (i) Provide the Service you request (entitlements, blocks, schedules, notifications); (ii) comply with law and prevent fraud or abuse.
(f) Retention. (i) On-device data (usage, schedules, settings) stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app; (ii) subscription status is kept as long as needed to provide entitlements and meet accounting or legal duties. (g) Your state rights (if applicable). You may have the right to access, delete, correct, and obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing or targeted advertising (not applicable here because we do not sell or share or run targeted ads). You also have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. This Policy serves as notice at collection.
(h) How to submit a request. Email support@getdisconnect.com with: (i) the right you wish to exercise; (ii) what data you believe we hold (note: App Store purchases are managed by Apple); and (iii) a means for us to verify your request. We may deny unverifiable or unsupported requests as allowed by law. (i) Appeals (Virginia or Colorado). If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with "Appeal". We will review and respond within the time required by law and explain our reasons. If you remain unsatisfied, you may contact your state Attorney General. (j) Universal Opt-Out (Colorado). If in the future we engage in sale or sharing or targeted advertising on the web, we will honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) as Colorado’s approved universal opt-out signal. At present, we do not conduct such processing. (k) Children. We are not directed to children and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the U.S.; if we learn we have done so, we will delete it and may restrict access.
11) Do Not Track; ads; tracking
(a) We do not use advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking. (b) We do not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA). (c) We do not respond to Do Not Track signals.
12) Third-party links
(a) The Service may contain links to third-party sites or services. (b) Their privacy practices are governed by their policies, not ours.
13) Changes to this Policy
(a) We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. (b) We will notify you of material changes (for example, in-app notice). (c) Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
